Melu Crochet Guide: Continuous Join As You Go Htr
- Lay out your squares:
- You will start in the top right hand corner, use this map and follow the direction of the arrows:
- Attach your yarn into the top right hand corner of square 1
- Ch1,
- Htr into each stitch (here you can see that I crochet over my ends as I go, this means fewer ends to sew in at the end)
- When you reach the corner, crochet 3 htr into the corner stitch
- Continue to htr into each st on the the left hand side of square 1
- When you reach the corner, add 2 htr
- Now you will join square 2. You will start in the bottom right hand corner of square 2
- Hold the squares with square 2 facing you
- Htr into the corner of square 2
- Slip stitch into top of last htr of square 1
- Htr again into the corner of square 2
sl st into top of the next htr on square 1, which will be the next unworked stitch that you can see.
- Continue to htr, into each stitch along the side of square 2 and sl st in each corresponding stitch on square 1
- When you reach the corner, continue to htr and sl st, joining to the htr of the corner htrs of square 1
- Continue to htr, around the top and left hand side of square 2, adding 3htr in the corner. Join square 3 in the same way as you joined square 2.
- When you reach the bottom of square 3, htr along the bottom of the whole row,
- When you get to the joins, add a slip stitch into the stitch indicated (the top of the htr stitch that joins the two squares)
- When you get to the end of square 1, add just 2 htr in the corner,
- Join the bottom of square 1 to the top of square 4 (look back at step number 10 to remind yourself!)
- When you reach the join between squares 1 and 2 this time, you will need to slst into the opposite slst that you made in step 18
- Continue joining your squares, following the map
- When you get back to the top right hand corner st of square 1, add 2htr, slst into your first htr in step 1 to join.
